Profinet is an Industrial Ethernet, which added requirements and features that can not be seen in conventional Ethernet networks to ensure data is not only sent and received correctly but also must be in time to execute control commands, transmitting data in automatic systems.
The advantages of using Profinet switch managed compared to conventional unmanaged switches:
– Priority is given to Profinet frames (Profinet packets). This is one of the important features of Profinet switch.
– Profinet switch supports detecting, detecting neighborhood profinet devices (neighborhood detection).
– Port mirror function, can connect with network analyzer to diagnose network information.
– Easily integrate into network hardware configuration via GSD/GSDML file.
– Profinet switch supports MRP (media redundancy protocol), allow to be wiring to ring network, which helps in the fact that if one line fails, the system will work the remaining lines to the devices.
